These tents were used way back in ancient times, nearly around 10,000 BCE to 4,000 BCE. Back then, it was utilized by the Aboriginal tribes from Canada of the Indian plains and also by the American tribes.
These tents were an updated version of the tipi tent and were the first-ever widely used tent. They generally have a conical top, and within this peak, there is a small hole for the smoke to pass out.
Types of Swiss Tents:

Small Swiss Tent:
In a small Swiss tent, the drapes can either be left free or attached and fixed firmly to the ground. Since the size is small, it is less secure, and the materials used are of normal quality compared to the ones used for the large tents.
People travelling with lightweight and compact luggage use these tents. Due to their size, they are portable and can be carried for long-distance activities easily.
Large Swiss Tent:
The materials used in a large tent are of premium quality. These tents are made up of strong guy ropes, and these ropes are attached to the tent pegs or the stakes.
Large Swiss tents were used as a mobile homes by nomads in earlier times. Now, it is used mostly for recreational activities at campsites, and farmhouses and is also used as a temporary shelter.
You can easily accommodate a minimum of 4 to 5 five people in this tent. These tents need to be carried over a car or any vehicle, due to their large size. Such tents are mostly used during desert camping.
